Artist Statement

Caroline Mills is an illustrator and printmaker who works with iconography taken from childhood memories and trends. Using collaged, hand-drawn imagery, her focus is on exploring the personal relationship with her trauma and sexuality. Her current body of work is an exploration of the questions that she asks herself daily about these traumas, media consumption, and ingrained childhood memories that remain relevant. Her pieces are autobiographical, and could be viewed as a method of journaling. Using CMYK Screen-printing, Lithography, and pen and marker illustrations, Caroline is able to push these recurring feelings and elevate them into pieces that become important to her life.
